Scutellinia crucipila
Description
Scutellinia crucipila is an inedible mushroom with cup-like orange fruit bodies. Fruit bodies are 2-8 (10) mm in diameter, sessile, conical in youth, then straighten and become saucer-shaped, prostrate; hymenium from light orange to orange-red; the outer side is lighter and loosely covered with invisible hairs. The edge is slightly bent upward with sparse pubescence of fine hairs.
The hairs along the edge and in the upper part of the apothecia are straight, on the outer side of the calyx split into 2-5 processes, light brown with lighter tips.
Grows singly or in clusters, often in association with other species of Cheilymenia and Scutellinia on bare ground discards, along the edges of paths, in potholes. Occurs in June-August. The species is widespread.
